Amazon Launches 'Try Before You Buy' Fashion Service In The UK

Amazon’s try before you buy system has recently been trialed in the US and it has been a great success, now it’s time to trial it in the UK.

The idea of trying a piece of clothing on before buying it is one of the main reasons the public love to shop on the high street! Could this be the change that further enhances the online shopping experience?
Prime Wardrobe allows shoppers to have items delivered free of charge, try them on at home, and pay for those they decide to keep. A dedicated Prime Wardrobe section on Amazon’s website enables customers to browse thousands of eligible fashion products in women’s, men’s, and kid’s, including clothing, shoes, bags, accessories and more.
One thing is, you MUST be a Amazon Prime customer!
On receipt of their order, members have seven days to decide what they love and then pay only for what they want to keep and return the rest. There is no catch in terms of delivery cost; Amazon said returning unwanted items is free via a resealable bag and prepaid label.
This general idea is not exclusive to Amazon. ASOS are one retailer that has implemented a similar system. Last year they partnered with Klarna (A European Bank) which allowed for customers to order clothes and only pay for the ones they decide to keep. ASOS customers are given 30 days to decide what clothes they love and what they want to send back. After seeing the success of Klarna via ASOS, a lot of other retailers including sportswear giant JD Sports partnered with the bank to provide this new feature.
The launch of this new Amazon feature in the UK will put pressure onto other retailers. There is a new wave of online stores offering a try before you buy service, it is the future of online retail and eventually become the norm in Ecommerce marketing.
