Amazon Claims Cyber Monday Broke Sales Records

Amazon has claimed that Cyber Monday and Black Friday were the biggest shopping days in its history.  The online retailer hasn’t disclosed sales figures from the days but have stated that their customers order 180 million item’s during the five day event.

They also claim Cyber Monday was the biggest and best day for the company adding that the launch was the biggest single shopping day ever at the company. Cyber Monday likely hit sales of $7.9 billion (£6.1 billion) according to an estimate from Adobe. This figure indicates a 20% from the previous year. Online sales for Thanksgiving and Black Friday likely reached $3.7 billion (£2.8 billion) and $6.2 billion (£4.8 billion) Adobe have claimed.

As fewer consumers travel to brick-and-mortar stores for bargains during the Black Friday event more and more are on the hunt for sales online. This is happening all over the world including Asian markets with Alibaba announcing record profits just last month. With Black Friday violence frequently shown on the news and bad weather maybe it’s not surprise more and more people are turning to Ecommerce to do their deal hunting.
